We say that the fishing ban on the seas, which started on April 15, has been lifted on September 1, and we say "bismillah" to our fishermen's and wish the season to be beneficial for all of us. The use of ice is very important for keeping the fish, which is of great importance for our health, in a healthy way until it is caught and brought to our tables. Some advantages of using ice for preserving fish can be listed as follows;

- The water formed as a result of melting ice ensures washing of bacteria and contaminants on the surface of the fish.
- The ice water mixture formed as a result of melting the ice wraps the surface of the fish, preventing the dehydration of the fish meat and helping to maintain its brightness.
- Ice made from sea water or potable fresh water is non-toxic.
- Ice-water mixture provides effective cooling, increases heat conduction
- Ice is a suitable cooler because it can be moved from one place to another.
- When ice melts, its temperature becomes 0 C. This temperature is the ideal temperature required for storing fish meat without freezing and can be provided automatically with ice storage.
- Compared to other refrigerants, ice is a more economical refrigerant.

The types of ice used in fish icing can be listed as "flake ice", "gel ice", "block ice", "plate ice", "broken ice", "tube ice". Another method used for the protection of fish caught in fish boats is “instant cold water” obtained by “seawater cooling system”.
